The Vista defragmenter will drive you up the wall. It’s slow as heck, does not show the drive map and there is no progress bar. The first time i ran it, it took 8 hours on a quarter full, mildly fragmented 500GB drive, and did not even completely defrag it.

Save yourself the aggravation and get Diskeeper 2008 pro. It’s fast, thorough and has an excellent GUI. Did I mention that it’s easy to use? Just install it and you’re done- Diskeeper defrags automatically when necessary, and using only unutilized system resources.
