Windows Vista is no longer a new operating system, but it still has lots of little quirks that people just haven’t gotten used to. The entire purpose of the User Account control is to protect your computer by not allowing viruses or spyware to run without your permission. The only downside to this idea is that not only does it stop bad programs from running, but it stops nearly all programs from running without your permission. It seems that a majority of programs require this authorization in Vista. This can get very annoying, so obviously you can disable it if you so choose.
To disable the User Account Control (UAC for short):
Open the start menu and select Control Panel.
Select “User Account ”
Click on “Turn User Account Control on or off”
Uncheck the “Use User Account Control” box and click ok. You will simply have to restart for this change to take effect.
Their you have it, UAC is now disabled. You are now free to use your computer as you wish, without the hassle of allowing programs to actually run. Obviously, this does open your computer to more viruses and spyware but sometimes that is just a risk you have to take. If for some reason you decide you want to re-enable UAC it is very simple. Just go back through the same steps and make sure to check the “Use User Account Control” box. Enjoy your freedom and saved time on the computer.
