ista’s sidebar can be a very useful tool in helping you see the upcoming weather forecast, check your Xbox Live gamerscore, and even see how much of each of your cores is being used at the moment. If you have disable this for one reason or another, but couldn’t figure out how to turn this feature back on, this article is for you.
Click the Windows icon, open “Control Panel”, and make sure you are set on “Control Panel Home.”
Next click the “Appearance and Personalization” heading.
Next click “Windows Sidebar Properties”
Check “Sidebad is always on top of other windows” and “Start Sidebar when Windows starts.” This is way will take immediate effect and there will be no need to restart.
Both of the above options of getting your sidebar to appear in Vista require you to click the apply button in the bottom right of the window in order for the changes to take affect. If you forget to do this, your not going to have very good luck with your sidebar showing up.
Now, you may be thinking to yourself that you don’t want my sidebar to always be on to of my other windows that I have open. All you have to do is simply uncheck that box and hit apply, and boom the sidebar is still showing but not above all windows.
This next part is pretty self explanatory, but I’m going to go over it anyways. If you want the sidebar to appear on the left side of your screen instead of the default right, all you have to do is change the bubble to the one that says “Left”. Also, for those users that have two monitors hooked up to the same computer like me Microsoft has included a little drop down box to let us choose which monitor we would like to display the sidebar on instead of having it limited to one monitor on one side, we have the option of both sides and both monitors and yes, you can mix and match!
