Improve Visual Performance in Windows XP


Don’t worry, we are not going to disable ALL Windows XP visual settings. We are just going to disable the ones you can’t see that slow your Windows XP down.

Click “Start”, “Settings”, “Control Panel” and double-click this icon (system icon):

Click the “Advanced” tab and your window will look like this…

See where it says “Performance”? click the settings tab and this window opens…

In this screen leave only the following checked:

Show shadows under mouse pointer
Show shadows under menus
Show translucent selection rectangle
Use visual styles on windows and buttons
Use drop shadows for icons labels on the desktop

Click “Apply” and “OK”.
