Kill MSN Messenger in Windows XP
So, you installed the new Windows Live Messenger and yet you still have the old MSN Messenger running? This guide will show you how to get rid of that old MSN Messenger for good.
Click “Start”, “Run” and this window opens…
Now, copy & paste this into the box:
RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove
Your window now looks like this…
Now, just press “Ok” and Windows will tell you it needs to restart.
Users with Windows XP SP1 might see a message that looks like an error when they press “Ok”. Just ignore it and click ok. That’s just Messenger saying it was finally beaten and it’s upset.
