Shutdown Services in Windows XP


A lot of these services that are keeping your Windows XP bogged down you will NEVER use!

First we will show you how to access the tool that will allow you to disable services:

Click “Start”, “Settings”, “Control Panel” and double-click this icon (administrative tools icon):

A new window now opens. You will see this icon (services icon) so double click this too:

This window will now open…

See that list on the right? Well, when we want to stop a service we right-click it with our mouse and your window would now look like this…

Click “Properties” and this window now opens…

See whats circled in the above screenshot? Use the drop-down box and you will see a “disabled” option. What this will do is stop the service from ever running again unless you say so.

Whew… now that we got that out of the way you’re saying “I still haven’t disabled anything!” Well here is a very, very safe list on what you can disable to get a slight speed boost in Windows XP:

Remote Registry service
Clipbook
Network DDE
Network DDE DSDM
TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper service
